Harry Kane, England's captain, acknowledged on Sunday that his performances at Euro 2024 have not met his usual high standards, despite confirming his fitness amidst speculation about his back. England leads Group C ahead of Tuesday's match against Slovenia, with Kane stressing the importance of securing a decisive victory to build momentum for the knockout stages.

While Kane scored in England's 1-1 draw with Denmark, he acknowledged criticism for not reaching peak form in either match. "Have I played my best? No," Kane told reporters. "But having not scored in the group stages of the 2022 World Cup or Euro 2020, being one goal ahead feels positive."

Reflecting on his substitution against Denmark, Kane assured he felt fit and attributed the change to tactical decisions rather than injury concerns. "I'm improving with each game and feeling stronger," he noted, aiming to peak during the crucial knockout phase.

As England aims for its first European Championship, Kane stressed the team's determination to improve and regain momentum. He dismissed reports of a player-only meeting after the Denmark match, clarifying it was a brief debrief with manager Gareth Southgate followed by a family day.

Heading into the match against Slovenia, Kane highlighted the team's desire to finish atop the group and enhance their performance for the rest of the tournament.
